The Odierno Law Firm is proud to announce the Brianna Lieneck Memorial Scholarship.
In 2005 Brianna lost her life in a tragic boating accident. She was 11 years old. That accident was the inspiration and impetus for Brianna’s Law, a comprehensive boater education law that now requires all power boaters in New York State to complete an eight hr boating safety course.
Brianna was a vibrant young girl who was a caring, charismatic individual. She was also a tremendous athlete. Brianna enjoyed several sports and particularly excelled at softball. She embodied the values of hard work, dedication, and teamwork. She was also a diligent student who worked as hard in the classroom as she did on the field.
The Brianna Lieneck Memorial Scholarship will be awarded annually to a female student-athlete currently in her senior year of high school in Suffolk or Nassau County who is planning to attend college. The recipient will be granted a one-time tuition award of $15,000.00 which will be paid directly to the institution of enrollment. Candidates may apply by submitting an application with an essay no longer than 500 words to scholarship@o2law.com. The essay must explain how the candidate exhibits Brianna’s traits and characteristics and describe an impediment or disadvantage that the candidate has faced.
Applications will be accepted from January 15 to June 15 of each calendar year. The recipient will be selected by the Lieneck family and announced the last week of June.
Any questions about the scholarship should be submitted to scholarship@o2law.com
